A mystery solved

Many years ago I became fascinated by a tiny Coptic sock in the Manchester Museum. https://egyptmanchester.wordpress.com/tag/socks/

with thanks to Manchester Museum Dr Campbell Price Curator of Egypt And The Sudan who gave the opportunity to see the artefact closely. I made a knitted replica and was convinced that the original could only have been made by knitting.

This is a photo of my replica mimicking the original shape and colours.

However, this photo of my recent experiment shows that I have proved myself wrong by making a sample with Coptic Knitting which looks very similar to modern knitting but is made with a one needle technique.
