Photo by Dr. Giorgios Boudalis of my previous samples currently on view as part of The Codex and Crafts in Late Antiquity at the Bard Graduate Center Gallery 18 West 86th Street, NYC USA.
The stitch used to make these socks was also used to make books in Late Antiquity.
This Coptic Sock project was at the request of Dr Giorgios Boudalis, curator of the exhibition.
My name is Regina De Giovanni BA (Hons) Comparative Religion (Major in Egyptology and Greek Religion) I have studied textile construction and decoration for many years and undertook a City and Guilds in Textile Structures which covered a comprehensive range of techniques listed below.
